I grew up in a Christian home in Belize, Central America. Being
a German with a Mennonite background, the women in my family have
been making quilts for their households for centuries. Growing up,
all the blankets, quilts, and comforters we had in our house were
ones my mom made. She would usually not make them by herself, but
would invite my aunts and grandma over for an afternoon of quilting.
This was an exciting day for me as a kid. Right after school all
my cousins would come over and play with my sisters and me as my
aunts and grandma would sit, chat, and quilt. The quilt would be
stretched out on a frame and they would sit around it and quilt
it all by hand. Then towards evening they would cook dinner and
all the menfolk would come over for dinner and sit around chatting
about what they were doing on their farm. As I got older, I began
to help with the Quilting also.
Being the eldest of five girls, I learned quilting, and embroidery
at a young age. I really enjoyed it. Over the years I have made
many quilts of various sizes and have given them to my friends and
family as gifts. Each quilt is a work of art and is a real pleasure
to make. My friends and the women from the church really admire
my workmanship, and attention to detail. Customers and friends who
have seen my work, and have bought my quilts, say that my work is
top quality. Even my mom and sisters are amazed at how meticulous
I am in crafting my quilts. So, rest assured, when you get a quilt
from me, it will be of top quality and made with the utmost care.
