7. Wallhangings, Pillows, Bags, and Aprons (Click on picture to enlarge)

I do a variety of sewing projects for others, and many times do things I have never done before, at least not exactly in that way.  But, since I've had years of sewing experience, I can work out pretty much anything, even when it doesn't work out one way, I figure out another way.  For example, just a couple of weeks ago, a lady brought me an antique hankerchief on which she wanted me to hand embroider on one quarter the first letter of her daughters new married name, and on another quarter of the hankerchief to embroider both their names and their wedding date.  Well, the fabric of the hankerchief which was bordered in lace, was too fragile to work with, so I replaced the fabric with a nice white cotton and put the lace on that and she received a lovely hankerchief to give to her daughter on her wedding day.  Anyway, I love different projects, like making pillows with ruffles, pillows out of used t-shirts, making lovely aprons of various styles, and bags of all sizes, shapes and for various uses.

A shoulder bag I made out of a skirt I didn't like. I had bought a shoulder bag I really liked, and after using it a lot, I copied it and made this bag for myself. Same as previous bag.

The same bag again just a different color and the side piece I added, which is on both sides. The same bag again, just with a different side piece and decorative cording. My husband was in the air force, and so I made him a sturdy bag to carry his food and water and other odds and ends to work each day. I made some pockets on the inside as well.

A sturdy hand bag out of an old shirt. I live close to my mom's and always carry stuff back and forth using paper bags, but they were not sturdy, so I made bags like this about the same size as the paper bags. My husband and I use these for so many different things, even traveling (by car).

A bag for my sister in law, who has two little dogs, and needs a big bag to carry stuff when she goes to her parents. I made hers with shoulder straps freeing her hands to carry the two dogs in their kennels. A tiny tote for the little girl. A friend brough me a pattern and fabric and I made this shoulder bag for her.

Same bag as on left, but with top part folded down. A friend of ours broke his leg and so I made him this bag to carry his stuff instead of using plastic bags, while on crutches. I made a pattern of an apron I bought when in Russia 10 years ago. I really like it and have made many aprons like it.
